please return feature: persistent frame numbers in animation player
It would be nice to have the Animation Player include a persistent frame number overlay during playback, as it did in Blender 3.3 and earlier. I do see that frame number during scrubbing, but sorely miss the previous feature in terms of productivity.

You mean you want to see the current frame number in the 3D viewport when playing back?
Actually I am referring to the Ctrl+F11 function, View Animation prior to Blender 3.4. Previously, this very helpful tool had frame numbers persist, regardless of whether or not the LMB was depressed while on it. One could navigate to a frame, then go back to the 3D viewport for edits, then back to the same frame in View Animation easily. This was independent of the 3Dviewer timeline. It also was lighter weight in terms of resources, I believe. But, now that I am trying it, the Image Viewer may be the way to go if there is only one choice.
