Tweak select as default

When i create a new editor setup, blender ignores that i changed all the selction modes from box to tweak in my startup file. I decidet to do so, because box select has only one funktion (selecting, for translation you will have to change the gizmo or use a hotkey - i.e. two hands), while the tweak gizmo lets you not only select the item, but you can pick that object anywhere and drag it. And if you really need to select more than one thing at a time, there's still the lasso funktion (ctrl-RMB). If you counted carefully, the one mode can do one thing, the other can do two. Two is more than one. Let's change the default selection tool to tweak please.

the best default tool would be the move tool imho.... full control... ;)

i split my window and it shows the tweak tool in the second window too. i don't know why it is not happening in your case.

Also you click object gizmos and select move from here to permanently show move gizmo to move quickly.

Please, let's concentrate on one thing at a time. I agree on this:

  1. If I select the Tweak tool in the toolbar and
  2. use the "+" button to Duplicate Current workspace,
  3. I'd expect that the new workspace has Tweak tool selected. It does not.

That's it. I don't think that Tweak would be any way superior to Border Select, and I believe it's beside the point.

"there's still the lasso funktion (ctrl-RMB)." (function) so if u already hold your hand on keyboard for lasso - what the problem to press G ?

* @IIIFGIII * preesing "g" will need a second hand. For that you need to have a certain sitting/standing pose and a keyboard in front of you. With my settings i can use blender under the shower or lying in bed, with a remote control instead of a mouse. It's all about freedom and speed. Needing only one hand is better than two hands. I thought this was obvious...

* @grinsegold * " use blender under the shower " - your work is about modeling something one handed under the shower?

* @IIIFGIII * that was just an illustrating exageration. My point is: i don't want to learn by heart where the g butten sits in order to work fast in blender. You might be able to type blindly, but many of us don't. When i have to look first where to put my hand i loose my flow. I just hate typing. That's so 80's. And yes, i often work with blender in a rather horizontal position - with only my mousehand. Why not!?

* @grinsegold * I don't type, I just think and things just happen ... Using keys is not about typing.
