Ghost Mesh For Snapping & Transforms
Propose is about give users ability to use " Ghost Mesh " mode while doing transform. As a " Ghost Mesh " I mean copy of selected mesh & mesh which adjacent to selected elements. Such copy stored as temporary data during current transform action for current selected ellements into buffer and can be used for calculation as snap targets.
In my vision there are two usages for such feature.
- Just snap assistant.
- Transforms for current selected elements work along edges/faces of this " Ghost Mesh " ( temp copy of selection & adjacent ) + all other mesh which is not adjacent. And give some kind of " projection " results. When transform vector was projected on to " Ghost " edges/faces. Some lots of strong mathematics, geometry and trigonometry.
This mesh should be visualized as some light ghost silhouette. Of course it have to be customizable - color, transparency, etc. Of curse it have to be as toggle mode. It already have keyboard shortcut which isn't mapped to anything in edit mode right now -
Alt + G
. Like " Alternative Geometry ". Like " Ghost " mode. Pretty cool? Or not?
As always - thanks for reading. Also you can check my other suggestions .

OH yeah !!! Why is not it already in Blender?
Blender users really dont understand what a consistent and robust set of transform constraints means for hard surface
Bump this so hard!
interesting idea forest ! +1
