Drag and drop from file explorer

Hi! It'd be very practical being able to drag and drop whatever resource/file from the File Explorer ! You can have your texture library, model library, .blend etc without customizing anything but just adding more tabs.

This is in the works for the new asset manager. Part of the holdup is defining how to differentiate what aspect of any given blender file is to be added when its dragged over. Currently there are many options to append only a single part of a file that could have hundreds or thousands of possibilities as far as appending items from that single blender file.

I still can't believe Blender can't do that in 2021. It's a shame.

How on earth Blender updates all those tiny bits of other parts like custom shape manipulating for controls in rigging and whatnot but does not implement any drag and drop functionality? How that can't be a priority? How?
