Autosmooth does not scale with brush strength.

Dear readers.

In sculpting mode brushes do have autosmooth property. This property does not scale with brush strength.

There is a simple proof that autosmooth does not scale with brush strength. You can turn most brushes into a smooth brush with

strength <- 0
autosmooth <- 1

In the thumbnail you can see SnakeHook brush turned into a Smooth brush.

My proposal … a way to make autosmooth scale with brush strength.

Regards,
Leonard

A reason I care about this.

Any brush has strength property. During sculpting we change strength. We reduce it and increase it in our workflow.

If autosmooth is active on a brush, there is a strength where autosmooth dominates over brush strength. So, when brush strength gets lower then this borderline, we get kind of smooth brush. We have to correct autosmooth intensity manually to work for our lower strength. After we set autosmooth intensity for lower brush strength, we need to increase brush strength during our sculpt session. Autosmooth effect starts to become meaningless, we would have to increase it to get effect we desire.

Now, perhaps, you see the issue. Each change from low strength to high strength (and the other way) we need to adjust Autosmooth by hand.
