Nodes for lights in Eevee

OK so you know how in cycles you can take any light, like a spot and in the light settings enable "use nodes" and then we can use image textures or texture nodes to make epic light projections?

If you could do the same in Eevee, how AMAZING would that be. Imagine How easy it would be to make caustics in Eevee. Feed some voronoi in the light and thats it!!

Right now you have to use some maths and stuff to make this effect especially making the light not cast below an object (like a fish for example) and light projecting properly on geometry. And I'm not even sure if we can do that with multiple objects. You can check out CG matters "laser video" for that. But I think this would be a cool thing to have.

That kind of effect is probably very difficult because of the way Eevee works

is a shame because it'd be really, really useful in a lot of cases. It things like projections are certainly possible in a rasterized renderer because Source Filmmaker supports it (since its lights are projected textures) and a lot of game engines (if I remember correctly eevee is supposed to be designed more like a traditional game renderer) also support it.

One of the biggest loss since blender internal. I requested this couple times but devs no have time for this.
