Global switch for changing rotate view mouse button
Why:
Right mouse button is faster and requires lower forces to press than middle button. Rotating view is most common movement so after hundreds of clicks with middle mouse hand is more rested than clicking with middle mouse button.
Also it can be useful for notebook users who use touchpad but I guess very few people work like that.
I'm not for changing keymap, only for making a way for fast switching shortcuts/keys assign like swapping Middle Mouse with Right Mouse in navigation and every tool (and modal map). Manually changing all assigned keys is tedious. It can be look differently like my proposition; my suggestion is about finding a faster way for changing or swapping all keys at once.

I don't think that'll be possible because Blender uses right mouse button for popup menu...
I would appreciate this.
This is a perfect area for an artist to contribute work to Blender development. My recommendation would be to build a right-click navigation keymap that suits your needs and then submit that for the development team to include. After all, a keymap preset is just as fast as your suggestion, without the need of adding another button in Preferences.
* @Jason van Gumster * As I said it's not my intention to add another keymap. My suggestion is about fast switching assigned keys/buttons. This is only example with swapping RMB with MMB.
Maybe, if you ask for something global, it better to ask for few fast viewport navigation presets. Current " industry standard " is not everywhere standard.
For example in 3D Max its just
MMBfor pan view,Alt + MMBfor rotatte view.Anyway it's still not a big deal to spent few minutes and remap pan/rotate view shortcut manually...

Of course I can change all shortcuts but it's really tedious to change every modal map in every tool, every shortcuts in every editor type. Maybe there's more people than want similar feature.
* @matt881 * Just a button is going to cause too many collisions with any of the existing keymaps, I think... and, like I said, will add a bit more clutter to Preferences. A proper keymap really is the best way to go. It may be tedious, but you only really need to do it once.
