Linked Hierachy View

I have been working on an asset library with many many objects and those objects are linked into other library objects, as one might imagine, eventually one looses track of all the linking and at what level that things are at in the hierarchy of linked assets.

A graphical(nodal?) hierarchical view of linked assets would be immensely useful and even more so with an ability to open and edit linked assets that are anywhere in the tree without having to open and drill into layers of assets as we have currently.

I have looked for an addon and can't see anyone doing this, add-on devs?! :)
