Make the Rip command work

That's it. That's the request. The Rip command fails almost all the time, for no clear reason. It would be fantastic it it would succeed insted.

Rip Vertices - Blender 4.5 LTS Manual mentions some limitations for the Rip operator:

Limitations

Rip will only work when edges and/or vertices are selected. Using the tool when a face is selected (explicitly or implicitly), will return an error message “Cannot perform ripping with faces selected this way” . If your selection includes edges or vertices that are not “between” two faces Manifold , it will also fail with the message “No proper selection or faces include” .

If the Rip command is failing in cases where it should work, that's likely a bug which you can (and should) report it via the menu Help > Report a Bug in Blender, so that developers can investigate.

But if it's failing in cases where it's just not designed to work, then it becomes more of a feature request.

In both cases, you need to describe the failing scenarios clearly. Without that, there’s nothing anyone can reasonably do. Just saying “it fails” isn’t actionable.
