New light type : Laser

I propose to add a new type of light "Laser" that would offer two modes of use: an ultra-precise directional laser beam and a more extended version, in the shape of a triangle, reminiscent of the lighting effects of shows. This would bring a new artistic dimension to simulate concert or event atmospheres, while enriching Blender's library of lighting effects. To implement it, it would be enough to add a few simple parameters (beam length, angle, intensity) so that the interface remains intuitive while giving free rein to creativity.

Normally you would do that kind of effects in 3d with mesh lights. So instead of doing actual light simulation of really bright dot light, like circular extremely bright directional area light, you would make a mesh cylinder with emission or potentially volume emission shader and or transparency to control the effect.

And make some sort of an animation with geometry nodes to control the direction and brightness effects for the beams.

That allows making the effect with way less computing power than using lots of dot lights. Small lights for example cause more noise to your scenes, which probably is the main reason why small lights are not typically used in 3d-modeling.

However, if you want to make it "real", you can use the area lights, which will allow you to make this effect, but the experience of doing it most likely is not going to be very fun what comes on rendering.

Here I have a small area lights shining to volume with very small spread, which will cause it to make a "laser beams" i.imgur.com/6xeKiMl.png This also shows how it will cause you to have quite much noise. Hope this helps you!

Yes he works ! But isn't realstics ! i tried in past with some round shape and a plan with some texture on it.... But everythings looks flat and not really reflective or other thinks like the light is suppoed to do 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ SO isn't a correct right ways for rendering ! is working for laser beam not for diffused laser.

I do not know what you mean with reflective? Laser beam is just light so it's not supposed to reflective. Obviously you need to manipulate the mesh object little more than just adding emission shader to it. Or is there something wrong with this result? You can make it better by many ways, so it's just some rough setup I made really fast.

You can combine it with some additional light source that is not directly visible to camera to make some sort of a light effect to the ground.

I think there a little miss understanding of a laser. Laser is just a simple light. The effect you want to produce, is already possible in blender.

For that you have to used a spot light nor an arealight with a spread and you have to use volume to "create" de beam effect with noise.

The reason why we see a laser is because there is dust in the air. Without dust(volume) there no laser effect. This is exactly the same effect as a sun beam.

The main difference is that do not have light in the middle, you light laser shape is kina like a ring, you can archive that using geonode to not emit from middle to side of the light

IES light never gave a look like i posted in my pictures... I've been already tested 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
