Linked Objects Transformable

The linking and appending methods that blender uses are indeed great tools, though, as I started using them more often I noticed that the link behavior lacks ease of use.

Let's assume I want to model different objects, each in its own blender file, and then link them in a new blender file to lay them out as I wish to compose my final scene. That wouldn't really be possible as of right now since linked objects cannot be transformed (moved/rotated/scaled). As there are different workarounds to this issue, none of them is practical and all of them have a compromise to consider. Probably the safest would be to put each object in a separate collection and link that collection instead, though if I have several objects I'd have to manually generate collections and move them inside of each and also I'd have to recenter them to avoid origin offsets.

So my suggestion is to have linked objects to behave like linked collections .

This would allow for complex dynamic scenes laying out since the linked objects could be edited in their original file and the updates would be passed to the final composition without having to deal with workarounds or messy files.

If you think this feature would improve your workflow or reduce working time consider upvoting!

Will upvote here. But I actually found how to transform them. Link the object. Place it somewhere in some separate collection like Library or smthng, just away from your eyes. Then just Duplicate Linked the object (Alt+D) and this new copy will be movable and transformable. Use it in you working collections.
