Proposal - Allow naming of parented/sub objects to be the same
When working with a certain scene structure of objects it would be nice to categorize objects/collections without having the .00# suffix. Having a custom unique name for everything can be good but it would be nice if that was hidden, and you could have prettier/more readable name in the outliner.

A colleague if mine suggested to have a toggle to display numerical suffixes or not. Because the problem is not the name in it self but how it is displayed to the end user.
Maya does this nicely with the
Grandparent|Parent|Child"unique" name behind the scenes, since then you disambiguate object names based on their hierarchy.3dsmax uses UUIDs behind the scenes, so you can name objects whatever you want as a "display name" - the downside of this is that scripting becomes more difficult, since getting objects by name in script can potentially return large amounts of things that have nothing to do with each other, so in that way Maya's system is better.
I guess Blender can't do this because each thing is a Data Block inside its own object type :(
It would definitely be very useful for large scene organization to be able to do this, or at least to allow hiding the .001 suffix that clutters the view!
