Proposal for the top toolbar interaction with other editors and default VSE
After a couple of years using the VSE and not seeing any changes in the new version, I'll make my interface proposal for the new release.
First the new top toolbar, my proposal for this would be to make it more related to the last editor type that you clicked, not all the editors should change the top bar, but at least the movie sequencer, the movie clip editor and compositing, now is only related to the 3d view modes and is useless for all the other task.
To me some of the functions of the timeline could go there and some of the panels in the properties editor reducing the need of keep that open or to go to another tab to finish the work, I usually need the Dimensions panel, Output, Postprocesing, Audio and Color Managment, Metadata could go there too, and ofc you could put there some of the sequencer options and move all that to the n panel, as long as is open by default should be ok for new users.
Default Screen in the video editor tab, well that's a hard choice, I barely use the graph editor, it could take the place that now has the timeline or to be removed from the default screen, to include the file browser and the image editor to me is more relevant.

I'm not really a fan of click-to-focus in editors. How would you get this to work with the current focus-follows-mouse model?
@Jason van Gumster: they could asing a hotkey, update after an action in the editor, a buton to refresh and lock the toolbar in the window or view dropdown, a dropdown in the toolbar ... use the focus-follows-mouse would be the worst way to me because you could move over diferent windows to get the top buttons, I think that update after click in the editors is a better solution
@iybgnots.qcg: That's not really an acceptable answer for my workflow. I rely heavily on focus-follows-mouse, both in Blender and in my general window manager. Not having that would make me at least an order of magnitude slower.
Hi, that would all be possible with my wider-purpose proposal ( blender.community/c/rightclickselect/CHbbbc/ )
@: I really like the second approach in your proposal , would be great being able to customize all the topbar in the new diferent tabs, keep the 3d view modes toolbar as default and being able to disable that and customize the topbar, anyway I think that the main tasks in blender could be there by default, video editing, tracking, animation, compositing and all the modes in the 3d view
