Ho about to implement feature for check and update addons? Like “homebrew” on macos.

Take a look at CGcookie addon updater. If i recall correctly gandalf made and attempt to make such things available right from blender during last GSOC. Don't know the exact status for this feature.
A check on startup would be appreciated. A automatic update system... maybe... But not in a larger office environment ;)
It already exists: Blender Addon Updater
The issue is that AFAIK addon's creators have to make their addons compatibles.
