Adaptive point insertion while sculpting Grease Pencil strokes

Grease Pencil Sculpt Mode can stretch the existing points of a stroke far apart. This often produces visibly sharp or angular sections, especially when using the Grab brush on filled silhouettes.

A Geometry Nodes setup using Resample Curve can add evenly spaced points to the evaluated result, but those points remain modifier-generated. They are not part of the editable Grease Pencil stroke and cannot be directly affected by Sculpt Mode. As a result, the underlying sparse stroke can still develop hard corners even though the modifier displays additional virtual points.

It would be useful to have an optional destructive or semi-destructive adaptive topology system for Grease Pencil Sculpt Mode. While sculpting, Blender could insert real stroke points whenever neighbouring points become farther apart than a chosen threshold. The newly inserted points would immediately become part of the editable stroke and participate in subsequent sculpt operations.

A basic version could provide:

A maximum allowed distance between stroke points Automatic insertion of real points while sculpting A refine-only mode that never removes existing points An optional refine-and-simplify mode World-space or screen-space detail sizing Restriction to points and segments affected by the current brush Preservation of cyclic strokes, fills, materials, radius, opacity, vertex weights, and other point attributes

An optional curvature threshold could add more points around bends while allowing straight sections to remain relatively sparse.

This would differ from the existing Subdivide, Simplify, Smooth, and Geometry Nodes tools because it would modify the actual editable stroke topology during Grease Pencil sculpting rather than only changing the evaluated output.
