SOLVED:UI: Right click on Camera Icon in the 3D viewport shows list of scene cameras and lets you choose the active one

Just a proposal for a faster switch between cameras, right now you have to navigate to your scene properties or select a camera in the outliner and use a shortcut to set as active camera.

It would be great if a dropdown list to choose the active camera from would appear when right-clicking the "toggle camera view" icon on the right side of the 3D viewport. This would be especially practical when you have many cameras in your scene (e.g. if you tend to bookmark different camera views)

Thanks! I understood just now that there is a link to the add-on :) Very practical

to make it always accessible if even nothing selected, replace code with this

def cameras_specials_menu(self, contxt):
    self.layout.separator()
    self.layout.menu(VIEW3D_MT_cameras_main.bl_idname)

Wow thank you so much!

Also if it does what you need, mark as Done your suggestion

It's not exactly like the suggestion, as this one would be independent from the right click menu in the viewport but the add-on is working fine for me, so I will mark it as solved :)

Or is that an add-on you are using?

Yes just like this, but it would be nice to have it always accesible how do you get that menu option? If I select a camera and right click it doesn't show this option for me

I agree, there should just be a command to change the active camera only. But in the meantime, maybe this was overlooked?

Ctrl+Numpad0 - Basically Nearly this? The command is "Set active objects as camera" which you can use an F3 search to get at. Only, it lets you do that to Any object. And it makes your active view part of that. But if you select a different camera and do that, it Does switch the camera to the active camera. And of course, if you want a right click, you can add that to your quick favorites.

The problem with this method is that you always have to select the camera first, which can be cumbersome if your outliner is cluddered up

I misunderstood what they wanted when they said dropdown list. I get it now, and yeah, that would be useful. I'd like it to be without the need for an add-on though. Or, at least do that sort of thing with an add-on that's included. I'm not sure how they choose which add-ons get included or not. Plus, even with the Ctrl+Num0 solution, it can be annoying if all you want to do is switch that camera to active, because that also makes your viewport that camera. For the add-on, it would also be nice if the list indicated which camera was currently active. But it would also be nice in the same right click to just choose the selected camera as the active camera, if there is only one camera within the selection. If you're in a scene with lots of camera, and maybe some of them are poorly named, then it may be easiest to just select the camera, right click, make active.
