Automatic configuration for dynamic painting using textures.

Automatic configuration for dynamic painting using textures.

The last time I used it, dynamic painting based on texture instead of polygons required you to create a UV map, a material, define a file location and then bake a sequence of images that would then be associated with the previously created material.

It would be very practical to have an automated option. A simple automatic UV map, a simple material or additional nodes by default, and a predefined area for the bake.

This way you could use dynamic painting on a plane, or another low poly object, and visualize everything right away. Even using textures like occlusion parallax to have reliefs without polygons.

  • By default, there is a repository automatically generated to bake the effect. That is not a problem. IMO, that is safe to have it in tmp folder for first tests.

  • Currently, when a primitive is added. UVmap generation is automatic.

So, you have a plane as a canvas, it has an UVmap. You don't have to create an UVmap. You don't even have to precise it in modifier to make dynamic paint working.

  • But the part about previewing the result is entirely true. User have to create a material or re-use current one, to add an Image texture node to it, to open baked image sequence, to enable Auto-refresh property, and to reload images sequence at each bake.
