"Viewport/Render" visibility for Nodes
I often use the Alpha Over node to preview transparent scenes against a white background (common in product design), then mute it before rendering. While this may not be trivial, could a Viewport/Render visibility system, similar to what exists in the Outliner, be extended to nodes (Shader, Geo, etc) as well?

For the Geometry Nodes there is the Is Viewport Node , which you can use with Switch to turn on/off stuff based on if they are Render or Viewport ( IMO Is Render would have been more discoverable name for that node)
For the Compositor, isn't the setup below doing what you are asking for? In viewport the alpha is overdrawn, and in render is transparent :
That will do it yes, thanks!
this is not stupid at all. Just because Compositor can be enabled in the Viewport, the addition of a "Is Viewport" node in the Compositor would make a lot of sense. It sounds like the most simple thing to add but I have no idea how to do this myself
