Snaping to things are still overwhelming and confusing to navigate

Hi I realize when I'm modeling or wanting to manipulate pivot, I find this process of the pipeline is suffering for the longest time. Even after new process like the recent 'B' key for snapping hasn't rlly fixed it's core issue.

The straw that brakes me are 2 things.

  • I wish to snap mesh to the center of another face at the center. Even if I activate 'Face and set to medium or center', it's not what I expect where I assume it snaps at the center of the face. But it just snaps onto the face (which is a good step 1), but I wish for it to snap to the 'center' and not behave like 'closest or project'. Something silimar to 'Edge center' but for faces. And even so, the edges have this feature but not faces and it's redundent in the options.
  • Pivot manipulation is just convoluted with the philosophic of struggling with the 3d cursor to then set the pivot to that cursor. It's too many steps under too many strange menuing. And snapping is also cursed.
  • I also wish pivot manipulation have a feature to orient it's facing direction.
  • No matter how many times I try using the 'B' hotkey for snapping, I never like it and have avoided it. The concept of clicking exactly where you want, but then when you release it to have your mouse offset from the actual position where you wanna snap is not what I want.

This might sound like a two kinds of issues between modeling and pivot, but it's stemmed and cursed by the same snapping behaviours that doesn't work as intentended or has strange results.

face center snapping is not implemented yet. they are working on it projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/148297

and yes, blender has a terrible pivot system. it needs a rework from scratch. the 3d cursor is a huge problem, it always gets in the way of things that should be direct.

also yes, the snap base (b key) was implemented in a very unintuitive way. it also needs rework
