Drop-Down Menu in Nodes

The main idea is to have a drop-down menu available for group nodes. (Preferably in all nodes, shader/geometry/compositor) So you can switch multiple inputs from the outside with a drop down menu. The main advantage over alternative methods is that you can name each item in the list, and you can create very intuitive controls for your group nodes, like the built-in nodes (the distribute points on faces node has one, where you can select random or disk type).

Example: You want to create a material and give the user the option to choose from a list of presets: (mossy, wet, old, new, etc.). Currently, you would have to create a lot of mix nodes and multiple sliders to accomplish the same thing, while making it less clear to the user what each slider does.

You could set pre-defined values (like: float, int, color) for each of the entrys along with its name, then each one will become an outgoing connection at the group input inside the group node.

So basically, the ability to create custom drop down menus in group nodes for all node based editors. dropdowngroup_example.png

It has been added to geometry nodes now, and I think that it should be added to shader nodes as well.

That is a valid option. I would argue for a more robust system: a "list type" with its on socket, maybe. That can be use to add a input on preexistent list dropdowns that other nodes already have. That with a multi-switch node would be great. The list node could output a regular index value for each of the options on the list and the multi-switch get that as a input.

We need this in the shader editor and compositor too. Commenting to rise this up as a reminder!
