SHIFT + A 🔸 VERTEX ?
To keep it as short as possible, after sitting with a friend showing her Blender 2.8 using a vertex and skin modifier to make a base character in seconds.
She asked me: "Why there is no Point / Vertex option on the mesh creation menu?" (Shift+A)
I realized how this process looks for someone who never used Blender before, I think it will be an easy task for the devs to just add "VERTEX" for everyone, is it possible?

There's an addon for that : Add Advanced Objects. It needs to be migrated to 2.8 though.
@-L0Lock-: I think it should, I mean I can already handle this with the extra steps but for a newcomer it looks weird, that's how I noticed it. :)
I often start with a single plane or face when I retopologize things. Upvoted.
I think this is a good thing to have in vanilla blender . We have the monkey heads and all other rarely barely useful stuff there by default as well. A single vertex would be fine as you sometimes want just that. We have a cube for example which is just an extruded plane. To get from plane to vertex takes more steps than it takes to get from plane to cube. Or circle and cylinder?
For the same reason we don't need an edge as you can create one from that vertex with single e key. Does not make any sense to have this as addon because to me this is pretty basic level functionality. If this needs to be an addon then have it come with blender and be on by default.
As mentioned, there's an add-on for this. It's a useful feature to have in some workflows, but I personally don't think it's critical to have enabled by default.
What a probled to press
Shift+Don any vertex & move it where u need.Same amount of moves as if u place 3D Cursor +
Shift+Ato add vertex.@forestgumpovu4: To create a Vertex from scratch is a bit more than just Shift+A for Example:
Shift+A > Plane > Edit Mode > Alt+M > At Center
Instead of: Shift+A > Vertex
After looking at someone who is new to Blender, it looks weird that this simple option is not there by default.
