Blob Tool

An idea of a tool that would allow you to split a "blob" in half , giving it a natural FEEL of RIPPING APART 2 things , from observing 3Ds Max that uses it or zBrush in sculptris pro (where you thin a model so much to the point that it splits apart)

I can deduce its a Live Boolean function ,where simply the 2 pieces may just be split apart then closed ?

not sure how it would work ,but in blender its more doable than other programs i personally do something similar when i try to do Gore Systems , since blender doesn't remove uv's when editing topology in edit mode , i split polygons , close holes ,and i am able to make gore systems that can work well forGaming Animations ,

But nothing can beat a dedicated "Blob Tool"

maybe you could script something around metaballs

Isn´t it Metaballs?

What example do you refer in Max?

@Juan Gea Rodriguez: o my god hi Juan! didn't expect you to answer! , anyway not sure ,probably it is but i interpretit as something where you are giving physics to characters and objects where they can be torn apart

@porkeehunporki6669999: ;)

For that you would need something similar to the good old ICE particles of Softimage and a multiphysics system like the free addon Particular, then you could create those affects, that or many other physics techniques to tear things apart, but in any case a blob object will not help you out because you want a pre-made geometry to be torn apart, so you need something that can drive that geometry (if I understood well what you said)

The only thing missing in Blender to be able to do that is an "Armature" modifier that can use particles as bones and that can be configured to break geometry when the edge tension exceeds some limits, something similar to a cloth simulator tearing apart the cloth.

Cheers!

@Juan Gea Rodriguez: AMAZING you made my interpretation of dillon's idea into something way way better!

@porkeehunporki6669999: In this case is like a nerve network, but is something on the lines you suggest:

This is Softimage ICE :)
