3MF Exporter

As 3D printing has become more, and more mainstream. So has the requirement for a file format that supports, mesh, normals, manifoldness, materials etc.

3mf.io/ 3MF is this standard.

My request is to have a 3MF exporter option as an option in the file->Export menu in Blender 2.80+

I, myself have no association with the consortium, just a general 3D printing hobbyist

I've written a video about why we need this: youtube.com/watch

Agreed. FULL featured 3MF capability would be great.

A few of the other links show issues with the format, mostly as people assume that 3D printing means 'per vertex' colors at best. That's not correct - we have a farm of 3D printers that can do full color, and need texture maps in the format - which STL doesn't allow.

So basically without 3MF we're purchasing a few dozen copies of 3dsMax. Sigh.

And, yes, I borrowed and modified another request made months ago because the response from the dev team was to poo-pooh it for saying they wanted "Native" support when what they really wanted was an Exporter. Fine. If that one is invalid, how you like me now?

* @joealarson * To be clear, that response in the request that this is a duplicate of was made by me. I'm not on the dev team. I was just asking for clarity on that post. The OP is always able to update the proposal.

* @Jason van Gumster * My request has been ignored, this is somewhat the same

Doing dome urgent 3D designs, found that during export of the STL, Blender 2.8 does not maintain unit scale. For reference, The default cube when you start up Blender, the scene is set to millimeters, making the cube a 20 x 20 x 20mm cube.

3MF retains that scale factor, and is annoying to scale up by a factor of 10, for every model in the slicer.
