Materials from other software in Blender

I guessing that many Blender users have other software.. and these have own materials after installation.

The idea is to aggregate this type software (check and discover supported software) as list and sources of possible materials to usage in blender.

Eg.

  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\2\Mats

  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\KeyShot 11\Materials (it's instaled due Solid Edge 2023)

It's taken many GB.. why not use this in smart way..?

That sounds like something the respective softwares' communities could do on their own (and in fact might be already done).

But concerning the BF, I doubt they have the manpower to do so. I also doubt they'd want to do it, and I bet there are legal therms and licenses to consider as well.

Then maybe more for addon, but maybe we can just add a dirs where the materials or texures are located, then this can help. Easy preview, etc. Small support her can be nice, eg. path for many sources
