Play meter or VU

A play meter (like the type you see in Sound Forge, going all the way back to versions 4, 5, and 6). You know, the audio meter at the right side of the screen that you can set a range to. For example, 0dB at the top and -90dB at the bottom (or 0 to -138dB for the perfectionists out there).

Something like that in the Blender video editor would be very valuable to determine the final output audio level that's going to be rendered out and to avoid audio clipping.

For Blender's interface, having it run the length of the bottom of the video sequencer's screen would allow for a nice long visual dB range readout. It could be really thin to avoid taking up much real estate, even with the left and right audio channels displayed.

I checked the related link. Thanks. Just to be a completist, I'll post the following here too:

Something like this would be nice to have built into Blender's VSE: <a href=" voltage-control.com/Brig/Bl/Bl-AudMeter.png </a>

There only needs to be one meter (for overall levels). No need for one audio meter per audio clip, since levels per clip are really the domain of the audio recording unit and/or the audio editing app.

Update: Managed to get VSEQF addon working in Blender 3.65. It's certainly a step in the right direction.
