Automatically Showing Concerned Image in the UV/Image Editor

hello , when i edit uv of an imported scene , i always need to search for hours for the specific texture im working with.

always , thoses texture name are "dfbi4esg586qzeg" of course , this is not really handy to search , and a lot of people creating cg object dont give a dawn about proprelly naming their texture image ...

so it could be extremelly handy , fast and useful, if the image texture node we are selecting in the shader editor (or an texture of an selected object in the 3D view?) is automatically showing in the UV/image editor

Thanks

@forestgumpovu4: That could be a great option too. I like that.

This feature provided by "Amaranth toolset" addon. Doubleclick on any image node will display image in image editor. Very useful: <img src=' i.imgur.com/PRII8k7.gif' >

@Michail Soluyanov: Great to know. Thanks for sharing. Maybe it should come with Blender by default.

@luisburdallo: this addon in blender by default, you should just enable it.

@Michail Soluyanov: Just checked in 2.79B and there is no addon called Amaranth. Maybe you installed it and you don't remember? I remember now that it was from Pablo and he's got a page dedicated for it so I don't think is built-in. I just donwloaded it.

@Michail Soluyanov: I got some kind of conflict with double-clicking but it works only if I create a clean user folder. Edit: For some reason, it doesn't want to work if by default is set to Action Mouse but it does if I change it to left. I still don't understand what the difference is between those two.

@luisburdallo: Hm, really, 2.79B have no this addon, but I use 2.79 from night builds, and it has this addon.

Yeah and how about a thumbnail image of the texture in the Image Texture Node for Cycles. The blender and compositor editors have it.

@othoap: You got a new proposal right there. I was gonna do it once but I didn't :) I just saw you created it. :D Well done man. Upvoted.

I agree 100% with this proposal. Maybe there could be a lock in case you want to lock the texture for whatever reason and keep the current default behaviour,

I need this. Its current behaviour is like it is pinned.

I'd really love something like this for 2.8. It seems the recommended Amaranth addon is not available for that yet as far as I can see. I really want to start painting PBR map sets in Blender, but it's so damn cumbersome right now and this would be a huge step in the right direction.

Files can end up having tons of texture maps and it would be so much better to just click on the related node and automatically have the UV/Image editor sync to it, in order to quickly go back and forth between different maps that need to be worked on simultaneously.

dpdpforlife

This should be optional but definitely available.

ok ciurse , this feature will be activated as a checkbox

I agree, but keeping last texture should be an option
