Easy to load demo scenes from Help Menu
I wrote an addon for Blender, that allows to easily load 3 demo scenes. My intention is to have it be part of official blender, so you have extra menu points in the help menu, as shown in this screenshot:
(I'm trying to add a picture above, but it is not working, I followed the instructions via the markdown cheatsheet, but the image function seems to be broken.
For more info and the download link: blenderartists.org/t/include-demo-scene-in-blender-for-easy-rendering-and-benchmarking/651322/52
Note: This is still for Blender 2.79, not tested if it works for 2.8. I will wait to adapt it till 2.8 is finished.
Challenges: The addon is 100 mb large, so right now that would be too big to be part of official Blender and a function to download the scenes from inside Blender / the addon needs to be implemented, but that is currently beyond my skill in Python.

There's a very particular workflow involved for trying to get add-ons included with Blender when it ships. It's outlined on the developer wiki . That said, I'm not sure that it's likely to be included, especially considering the fact that there's the Blender Open Data website that provides this kind of functionality without tacking an extra 100MB on every download of Blender.
(BTW, you can upload a picture to be shown as the thumbnail for your proposal and it will show after your post. For images shown in-line, you're going to need to host them elsewhere---like imgur ---and then the Markdown syntax should work fine for you)
