Industry Compatible Keymap Proposal
I want to humbly offer my ideas to help ICK get a better improvement, I hope this map can accelerate the process of ICK development to help Blender get more professionals adopt this software. Since I have studied and listed out over about 10,000 commands of the Blender default keymap and I found that some are useful and some aren’t, I was trying to gather all the function that I found useful and put them into the existing ICK and eliminated some duplicated inputs and not helpful functions. I spent sometime to prioritize on remapping some of the main feature such as Object Mode, Edit Mode and Sculpting Mode. This keymap is consider that does the hotkey easy to get use to, fit the ergonomics, logically fit the LEAST common sense when we use the computer like, Ctrl C for copy, Ctrl V for Paste, etc. The mapping will separate into different workspace/mode and working independently, however except some common operation and some manipulation can not or fail to map separately due to bugs or the way Blender works. Also the mapping will avoid standard functionality of the operating system such as Alt Tab, Alt Esc and Alt F4, Ctrl F4 etc.
Explanation: Every key has 8 combination: Key, Key-Shift, Key-Shift-Ctrl, Key-Shift-Ctrl-Alt, Key-Shift-Alt, Key-Ctrl-Alt, Key-Ctrl, Key-Alt
The main idea is Alt will always be a base key for calling out the pie menu. expect the manipulation such as Alt LMB, MMB, RMB to control the 3D views.
For All Mode: Shift RMB calls Add Menu. Spacebar will call out the toolbar, Ctrl Spacebar will be Search. Return will be Rename, Shift Return will be Batch Rename. Tab and ` will temporarily swap the Circle Select (For a better result needs to set the brush size to 5) and Lasso Select. F1, F2, F3 can double click to swap the Orthographic, Front/Back, Right/Left, Top/Bottom, Alt 1- 5 can preview the Subdivision Level. Backspace and Delete are separated out for different deletion, Backspace for Delete things, Delete for only delete the keyframe; this arrangement is because of the working area on the keyboard. (Please check out and try the keymap) Ctrl Tab in viewport will change the workspaces, remain the default function hovering in properties window Ctrl Tab or Ctrl Wheel Up/Down can switch tabs. Remain the default in any menu Wheel Up/Down can change the selection. D key can toggle transform the pivot point, except in Sculpting Mode.
For Edit Mode: Double Click can select the whole.
For Sculping Mode: Because of some limitation, Alt LMB will be for Rotate, Alt MMB (Mouse) or Alt Double Click(Stylus) for Pan, Alt RMB for Zoom. Temporarily Masking Alt Ctrl LMB for Box Mask, ` for Lasso Mask, Tab for Brush Mask, Alt Ctrl Shift LMB for Box Clear Mask, Alt Shift LMB for Lasso Clear Mask, Shift Tab for Brush Clear Mask.
For more commands, please check the preferences, Window, Screen, 3D View (Global), Object Mode, Mesh and Sculpt.
For now, I finished the modification for Object Mode, Edit Mode and Sculpting Mode. I need some feedback to see this keymap can comfortably to use by people or professionals then I can move on to the next. Besides, If toolbar and add menu can make as a pie menu will be a better design. I hope this will not bother the developers too much but I wish the development team can give it a try. Feel free to discuss about it

More options are better. You can have a look at blenderartists.org/t/a-proper-keymap-for-blender-2-8/1145406/260 . It's based on muscle memory from multiple standard softwares (which makes blender practical for me) and best of all it has a google sheet with all the shortcuts nicely organized and searchable.
* @Ge Ro * Hi, I already know this keymap, however, I'm doing this is not asking for any money. I pretty sure the ICK I proposal is more details and complete, like adjust the pivot point, you can simply press D and then use the move tools (W) to transform it. I also created a google sheet for all the shortcut and searchable, but it is over 10,000 commands, I'm not sure everyone wants to read it or study it, that's why I didn't post it out. Anyway if that's the case, I will put it back in the post, thank you for reminding me :)
I use your keys, Please swap Alt+MMB to Alt+RMB becuase it is very easy to right click than middle click. and people don't often use zoom function as they use Panning. Maybe industry use these but they are not efficient, Blender people will never agree with such keys.
* @mrajendra2150 * Hi, thank you for trying it out, if you are mentioning the 3D viewport control, I didn't change anything from the original Blender Industry Compatible Keymap ( developer.blender.org/T54963 ) ,expect I add one more alternative panning control for the stylus in Sculpting Mode.
assuming blender can use keymaps and people can upload them, just contact developer if you got a real good one, or place it on blendswap personally i stay with blender original
* @peter.boos * Thank you for your advice! I heard that posted here the developers can see it.
"Alt will always be a base key for calling out the pie menu." No thank u... :)
* @IIIFGIII * Just easier to memorize for those who don't want to change anything from the keymap. In the other hand, since you know all the pie menu are mapped with alt key, you can just easily remove them and remap the commands as you wish. I really wish you can give it a try before you give any comment, because I do want to gather people feedback and make it better. Thank you for you response!
* @kenzi.lai * Things are not so easy. Then from my experience - using PIE for some really repetitive operation with modifier key is pain. Try to work with
XPIE but witAlt+Xwhole day. You will hate thisAlton day end (maybe personally you not, since you propose such, but I will 120%)... Same for others. For me such change will be just another "first to remap" to work comfortly.Edit. I forgot - you
Alt+Xwill not work, right now onAlt+XAlign PIE, not too common used thing soAltis good for it.* @IIIFGIII * I think you somehow activated the pie menu add-on, There is NO Align Pie from Blender Default. What I mapping right now is NOT including any add on because even when Blender mapping out their default keymap, Add-on is NOT considered. This keymap is based on current ICK, and it is ONLY targeting the ICK development, NOT the Blender default. If you are the current ICK user, you will need to use Alt LMB, Alt MMB, Alt RMB, to do the most basic movement and I don't think people from other background such as Maya, Max, C4D, Modo, Houdini, UE4, Unity or even Substance will hate the Alt LMB at the end of the day. ( developer.blender.org/T54963 ) If you have noticed that from the existing ICK, X key is toggle on the snap, alt x is toggle on the X-ray, however, I don't see any relation between them, the reason to gather the snap pie to Alt X is because people can remember that X is snap, then Alt X, is the pie menu for the snap selection or cursor, Alt Shift X is snap to component. The reason to use the pie menu is because it is faster to look for the function. Let say what is the hotkey for Selection to Cursor (Keep Offset) or Cursor to Grid? This is way more annoying and slowing down by going in to Edit Mode -> Mesh -> Snap -> Selection to Cursor (Keep Offset), or instead Alt X -> Selection to Cursor (Keep Offset)? Thank you for your reminded about Alt X, but that is not the case for this map. Please also try out other function like F1 - F3, Double Click on them, tell me how you feel about other Key-Binding.
Man, huge work here! But anyway everybody in this world, who prefer using hotkeys (not pies, menus etc) anyway will remap 'em according preferred tools, keyboard buttons (and lots of other stuff every man likes) so it's cool to have esperanto in the world of hotkeys, but at the end they will be remapped to own needs. So don't know it's it really matter, there this remap starts (at current keymap or with new keymap system)?
* @impacman * Hi, I really appreciated your response! I know people will eventually remap or customize some key for their own use. This keymap is more like a base for people when they are using ICK and they can still remap it as they need just like Blender default offered the base keymap for people to use but anyone can remap it. The reason I decided to remap it is because the ICK has many conflicted binding keys also missing a lot of function that are important. I totally understand people preferred hotkey rather than pie menu and so do I. The advantage of the pie menu is it can gather up more than one tool or commands and using the fastest way to call it out, for example there is a couple functions: Triangulate Faces [Beauty, Beauty], Triangulate Faces [Fixed, Clip], Tris to Quads. These are useful commands and the hotkey also mapped in Blender default but are they always being use? (Usually)Only when you need to clean up the mesh, so what are the hotkey for them? But If we have a pie menu for these commands, then we only need to remember that particular pie menu hotkey to find the function, but anyway this is another story. There are a ton of commands in Blender default, and all of them have been mapped but a lot of them are hard to remember and conflicting each other and it will cause the disfunction. However, my focus is not Blender default Keymap and I don't really mind how it will be map, but I do care about ICK at least and hoping it will get more professionals from other software background.
