Polycount Mode - New mode for scene assembly (useful for animation teams and gamedev)
Hey Blender, I recently saw two videos on youtube. Maya turns to have a very useful viewport shading by default for scene assembly and mesh analysis. In the thumbnail, that's Adam Littledale from Naughtydog who's putting together a scene. Now that we have the Collections in Blender, it would be nice to be able to set wireframe color based on collection settings. For example, we can have our primary, secondary and tertiary objects in a scene and place them in respective collections - the collections themselves have the setting to change outline or and wireframe color. This would help a ton during scene assembly IMHO. Please let me know what you think of this. I haven't really taken the time to do a full mockup of the idea, but hopefully, this will get the conversation going.
NOT TO FORGET the glaringly obvious reason for the name, the Mode should allow the artist to see mesh info when selected.

When development of 2.8 was starting, they had the initial implementation of dynamic overrides, which allowed you to override certain Scene data things per Collection. You could have two or more different matcaps per collection, for example, as well as other things.
Once dynamic overrides come back, the other feature you'd need is custom Wireframe color. Then you could override the wireframe color per collection.
