use trackball and a mouse at the same time
I saw this video of someone using a trackball to control the camera while modelling and realized a generic trackball would work very well for this.
I'm curious if anyone else has tried to use a trackball to control the camera in blender before.

blender already has NDOF support, which does the same thing- don't think we need any official support for weird hacks like hooking up 5 mice and a race car steering wheel lol
Blender's NDOF support is limited to 3Dconnexion products. They have a monopoly on NDOF inputs suited for consumer 3d modeling (as opposed to medical or industrial applications). This suggestion is asking for extended support for e.g. Heun's 3D-Spheric-Mouse. It's not as crazy or frivolous as you're pretending it is. Unfortunately there are very few users who can test these things, so it would have to be an external add-on.
OP literally said 'generic trackball', which is a type of 2D mouse.
