Collapsing collections while searching

When you search for anything in the View Layer you loose the opportunity to collapse any collection, suddenly all of them have to be uncollapsed/open. Is there a reason for that? When having a few hundreds of objects it would be quite useful to collapse and uncollapse collections to limit your objects you, as the user, have to manually search through.
