Texture preview in Node Editor in node it self

It would be nice to have ability when you work with many material with textures (especially on same object) to see what exact texture connected to material shader. Now to see - you MUST open texture somewhere else just to see what exact texture it is. When textures over 100 and more names useless - only open - it would be nice to have texture preview in node editor (pic 1) to see what exact textures there are. Like in compositor node view for example pic.2. (and like there have ability resize node with preview).

And mini request - why when we drag and drop texture icon (pic 3.) from node editor to image editor - texture not open there? We must delve in list of textures in image editor and again they in this list with NO BIG PREVIEW - small preview good for textures in small res with textures in big res - useless.

Most other applications show a node preview I don't understand why this request doesn't have more upvotes. Even tho you can do what people said, it's not the same having all visible and saving tons of clicks for complex materials.

With Node Wrangler you can double click on an image texture node and it'll show up in the UV Image Editor (if you have one open).

This obviously doesn't work for procedural textures though.

Side note: it would probably be best to make your "mini request" its own proposal rather than muddying up a single one.

I know this might be no news for you but there are probably problems with procedural textures and how to view those in these circumstances. Also you might want to check out Node Wrangler addon from Bartek, Greg and Sebastian and use the Ctrl+Shift+LMB on nodes to preview them with Emission strength 1 shader. It really solved my problems with this.

Why doesnt it help? Just use Shift+H and Ctrl+Shift+LMB on whatever you want to preview. The rendering is really fast with only emissive shader.
