Save last steps in .blend file?

I often doing proces where .blend files are saved int this type project_1, project_2 etc.. or named some change project_3_mod_1

Sometimes I need back to project_2 but back 100 steps. The feature requesting to manage history i .blend flile like on open app.

The question is that this have sense and pratical usage?

I know the blendgit but I'm not so happy from this sollution. github.com/ldo/blendgit
