Snap 3D cursor to vertex by holding Ctrl + Shift + LMB

Make placing 3D cursor easier by making it move with the cursor by holding and snapping to vertexes.

I think this would make it simpler to use and a more versatile tool when using it as a pivot point especially outside of edit mode where you can't use active vertex to manipulate objects.

Or, you could do what's laready possible in 2.8:

  1. Set your snap tool to vertex snap:

* @-L0Lock- * Cool I did not know that, holding CTRL while holding down the 3D cursor works, but maybe it would still be an advantage to do it without changing active tool with a key modifier like CTRL SHIFT

That really depends on how you use blender. If you use right click select, the 3d cursor is still bound to the left click. Most people don't use the 3d cursor all the time so it makes sense to not occupy an extra shortcut/click just for that.

2.8 aims to have a default keymap setup which remains bare minimal and suits about everyone, so that you have most of the keyboard free for customization.

I thought I would add a comment here just to round out the discussion for anyone else thinking about this idea. I was going to suggest the exact same thing but read the comments here and learned there is even a simpler method. L0Lock said you can turn on vertex snap and then use the 3D cursor tool, but when playing around with it I also realized you don't have to do that. You can simply Shift+RMB and hold the button down. When you do that it will snap to what is selected in you snap settings. That's exactly what I need and just wanted to note that here for anyone with the same idea.
