Headless support for Eevee
Currently it is not possible to run Blender 2.8x in headless mode because Eevee does not support it. Add headless support so Blender can be utilized without a display for example on virtual environments.

What is the status on this? Vulkan seems to be on the roadmap, so will it re-enable headless mode?
This is a known issue to the Blender development team and something that they're interested in addressing. However, because Eevee is an OpenGL renderer (and therefore requires an active OpenGL context), it's not an easy problem to solve.
* @Jason van Gumster * Thanks for the comment. But in developer.blender.org it is said that using EGL could be the solution and that "This is not a really hard task but it is not a priority for now. So postponing for now.": developer.blender.org/T54638
* @jaritheman * Understood... though the feedback I got at this year's Blender Conference was that it's not as easy as they initially assumed (which is disappointing, because I'd really like to have this feature).
* @Jason van Gumster * Aren't they going to port it to Vulkan at some point? I think I could wait until then.
* @Josephbburg * We may not have a choice. But as someone who has a few machines that I use as render nodes, it would be really helpful to have this feature now. :)
