influence objects for modifiers and particlesystem (Effectors)

This is a incredible useful feature in many other programs like cinema4d(mograph) and maya(mash).

It should be easy to replicate this behavior in blender. There should simply be a button on every possible modifier and the particlesystem to generate a domain object and one for the falloff. Inside this domain could be a plane placed for generating a vertexmap based on the falloff on one side of your choice or a custom object like a sphere. Maybe there will be a better solution for this with the upcoming object nodes, but anyway some feature like this is missing in blender and would make it much better for motion graphics.

Blender's earlier particle systems (like the one in 2.4x) had reactor particles that would provide some of this functionality... though not to the degree you're describing. There's been a lot of discussion about ways to bring them back and more.

This might be a note to keep an eye on for the upcoming particle system refactor. That said, it would be really helpful if you made mock-ups of what you'd imagine the interface and workflow might be for actually using this feature in Blender.
