[Auto Ortographic] Auto change to ortographic while rotating view with snapping
Hi, I'm unable to find any way to to this, so here goes my proposal.
It would be great to be able to enable viewport behaviour opposite to Auto Perspective.
While in perspective view I'd like to be able to snap to any side view (front/top/left etc.) holding Alt key AND auto change perspective to ortographic. If I start rotating again it goes back to free 3d view and ortographic view changes back to perspective.
This way we can have instantly any free view in perspective, and any side view in ortographic only using Alt key, without having to move hand across all keyboard or clicking any viewport buttons.
Thanks in advance! :)

This is already working in Blender.
Hold ALT+MMB ► When you move the mouse it will snap to your intended Orthographic view based on which way you move the mouse.
This also works jumping from one orthographic view to another orthographic view.
* @lilacdogoo * i'm very fresh to Blender and yesterday, when i was testing it, holding Alt was snapping to a view (front, side, etc.) but wasn't switching from perspective to orto automatically. But today it does. Weird... Nevertheless thanks for your answer – I've chcecked and it works! :)
* @LilacDogoo * I've checked again, and feature You're are talking about is something different that what was on my mind in the first place. To clarify:
— if I'm in perspective view, first hold ALT and then rotate my view with MMB – the view will change to ortographic and snap to one of side views
— but if I'm already orbiting view, using MMB and then (still dragging MMB) press ALT – then view will snap to closest side view but still in perspective (for example Left Persspective)
But there is a problem with workflow that You suggested. If I'm in perspective view close to axis I want to snap ortho pressing ALT+MMB will change view to other that I want. For example – I'm orbiting view in perspective, near front view. If I decide I need to change view to Front Ortho and let go MMB, press ALT, then MMB drag – view will change to Left Ortho or Right Ortho but not Front Ortho which is what I want.
Behaviaour that I'd like to suggest (as an option ofcourse that can be turned on or off) is while orbiting with MMB drag pressing ALT will snap view to closest side view (as it already does) but also , automatically change perspective to ortho (now it stays in perspective).
Hope that makes sense.
* @kuba.tokarski * it's worth pointing out also that there is a directive from Ton himself to have less options, not more. This means that a proposal can't simply hedge by saying it could be an optional feature and instead must consider the broad implications of such a proposal.
not a fan, personally. when I'm working in perspective I'd rather not have the viewport 'decide for me'. I use right/top/front etc in perspective mode frequently. If I want orthographic there are a myriad of ways to quickly get there (the transform 'cube' in the top right, hotkeys, a pie menu, etc).
* @testure * I wanted this to be toggleable option, another available option for personal preference, but as * @lilacdogoo * wrote above – it already works :)
