image sequences proxies with alpha
Building proxies for image sequences create image sequences with JPEGs and there is not alpha channel in JPEGs. It would be great to be able to build image sequences proxies with PNGs with alpha.

This would be incredibly helpful for the kind of video that I edit! The "custom proxy" option teases you with the possibility, but I have never gotten it to work with my own PNG sequences. Besides setting up all the custom proxies manually would be a pain even if it did work. A real option for it would be fantastic.
I would love alpha on proxies as well, but the point of proxies is to speed up playback. So having another (color) channel to decode and multiply with other layers might not achieve this requirement.
That's why this should be optional; not a replacement for JPG-based proxies, just an alternative. I edit video with alpha layers in the VSE all the time, and because of this limitation I just can't use proxies at all for those edits. It is literally impossible to edit my video if I don't have the alpha channel. I just have to deal with incredibly slow scrubbing and no real-time preview at all. Better a slight speed loss from the extra channel decoding than no proxy at all.
