Grease pencil Weight Paint improvements

Edit: I made a add on to fix these issues. You can try it out for free On the extension platform extensions.blender.org/add-ons/gp-select/

Hey Peeps :3 , I just wanted to try and redo my proposal so that people can better understand a big issue in weight paint mode. This makes Cut out animations alot more difficult

( please excuse the text to speech. i just felt like it make the video more bearable )

Here's the text version :

When you weight paint with a mesh plane ,when the bones are selected, you have alot of quality of life functions. one thing is bone selection tools you can test the weight painting in real time.

But will greasepencil , there is none of the armature tools. So if we want to test the weight Paint we have to go back into object mode , unselect the grease pencil and re select the armature, and go into pose mode. This is a back in forth thing until we get the parts right.

Another big issue is that in weight paint mode, the only way to isolate the strokes you want to work on, is to use Auto lock on layers, or lock the materials.

Say we want to paint just the brows? We have to find the brows strokes in this massive group of layers. thank the dev gods, that the layer search bar is back. Go to the layer and lock it. But even so i can't specifically select each stroke on that layer. Only as a group.

With meshes in weight paint mode we have different selection types. we Can even go into edit mode, and select a part to be mask out in weight paint mode. But in grease pencil we don't have anything like that . BUT, in sculpt mode we do. The super useful Selection masks! just a easy ctrl right click to add, and shift ctrl right to remove.

I wish we could just have the selection types, and the mask function that's in sculpt mode , inside weight paint mode.
