Select added edges/vertices after subdivision
Subdivision makes whole geometry selected afer using it. In result user has to select manually stuff that was added so he can work with it...........that is annoying and slows workflow down since subdivision is very commonly used for adding vertices and edges.

good idea, but maybe add a toggle
As selection improvement, I also like an idea of converting sub selection with ctr click ( selected verts with ctrl click + 3 key converts into polygons, ctrl +2 converts into edges) cause usual 1 2 3 key clicks just remember previously selected elements. Example:) - Often when im modelling in Autodesk and do, for example, looong poly selection i may find vertex which, you know, needs my help in its placement or something else.., so i just switch to vertex, fixing that ...problem and switch back to polys, having my previous poly selection... in blender i just cry trying to remember this vertex and doing my looong poly selection till the end... Of days..
* @impacman * Ctrl+123 usually is used for subd modifier to check subd behavior. It was removed with no reason, so it usually is set up manually.
* @Paul Kotelevets * my fault) So it's seems like alt + number free for this purpose
* @impacman * key combination is irrelevant. If you will have such functionality, you will be able to assign any combination that is comfortable to you.
* @impacman * Came to blender from max, still getting used to blender doesnt remember previous selections.....I feel you (thats definately one of top 10 things that slows me down in comparison with max, on the oter hand in blender are many great features that are designed better)
* @ownieone * Also came from max to Blender, so I can understand you. Personally, I don't need selection convertion anymore, but I think it can be easily realized as an addon. In my practice it is always faster to reach solution.
Something like that toolset. vimeo.com/166128361
