Array modifier idea

Just an idea I had, but wouldn't be cool if there was a "Mid-cap" option in the array modifier? Where you can put whatever you want in the middle of an array, instead of making 2 separate array objects that are the same and placing the object you want between the 2 (or however many). And an option to choose where in the sequence the "cap" appears. I'm sure someone can argue there's a way to do this with like 5 different modifiers and re-write the code themselves, and sacrifice a goat to the blender god or something, but why not just have it conveniently available in a neat little package as just 1 addition option in the 1 modifier?

You can do it with animation nodes, but it's difficult to set up. I like this idea.

What about two caps? or not in the middle? Nope. There is better proposal for merge modifier, that will allow to unite any amount of pieces. Also now it is available by shrinkwrap + data transfer (normals)
