Render Region feature
Hello good people,
More than 10 years ago I would using Maya 6.5. It already had a render region feature that worked like this:
- You render the full image
- You do some tweaks, like texture or light.
- You box select a region of the rendered image
- You hit render again
- The software would re-render that region only WITHOUT deleting the rest.
I am surprised not to see that very basic feature in Blender. Where do we request things to be implemented?

Yup. Thanks to our new search feature, you can find that this is a duplicate of this proposal .
@Jason van Gumster: Thanks, I did see that post. I also saw it is 2 years old and that the feature still hasn't made it into Blender, so I was wondering if anything has changed, but maybe people are not using it that much and it's not requested enough.
@jeanmarcfueri: Still... it's best to add to an existing proposal. Otherwise, we'll be full of duplicates and no clear direction on the right approach for a developer to take.
We have to remember that just because something is proposed here, there's no guarantee that the feature will find a developer to work on it and get it into master.
What about lasso render? It would render only section of the camera view selected by lasso tool,
Iirc this feature request is already present somewhere here on the site. Apart that, it's a feature not so often usable in a pathtracer, since most of the time, changing something has an impact on the whole image; so that if you just "border render" chances are you get a tile with visible boundaries that are darker/lighter or just have a different color bleed.
@: That doesn't really matter because the goal of this feature is not for final render, it is for quicker feedback.
