Option/Overlay to make Vertex/Edge/Face color the inverse of surface color
When nudging things around, or re-topologizing, it would be very helpful to have an option where the vertex/edge/face color is set to the inverse of the surface color, including any shading / texturing. This would override the theme colors.
This would guarantee that the mesh is very visible in edit mode, maybe even in object mode too if you have the wireframe Viewport display setting enabled.
There would probably need to be an "Avoid Similar" option to deal with low contrast between the color and its inverse (such as 50% gray). I think this option would be a >1 slider to multiply the distance between the color and its inverse in rgb space, increasing the contrast.
This would likely only apply to the unselected state color; or the theme's color could be mixed in. It may be best for this feature to be treated as an Overlays mixer in general.

Where in the Blender Interface would you suggest putting this option? Mock-ups would be great.
