Compile apps with 2.8?

Greatings fellow blenderheads!

I know the title may sound a little bit confusing, as the BGE has been removed definetly from 2.8, but this question is bugging me from time to time so let me expose my worries.

With BGE we were able to compile not only games but also simple apps (such as a car configurator) which could be offered to a client as a .exe but then we were missing the awesomness of EEVEE, now we are on the opposite side we can get stunning visuals but is imposible to get them out of blender. I know we can render full animations but that is not enough, also we always have the option to use any other game engine but then we have to rebuild all the materials, lighting etc again wich is quite painfull.

Would'nt it be great if we could have some compiling options? such as a small bunch of logic drivers? Maybe I'm saying nonsense but I find this very important in my work, am I the only one?

I've Heard that there will be a special version of blender (101?), will this be the answer i'm looking for?

cheers!

This is interesting. It would be cool if blender users could compile scenes into small applications that are just an EEVEE viewport. That would mean blender users could send 3D models to people that don't have Blender for viewing.

I believe I heard somewhere that there will be some logic/interactivity in 2.8, but I'm not sure what form that will take. I do know that part of the 101 initiative is to allow blender to be more configurable. It may be possible to completely strip out the interface and unused features/addons for basically a single 3d view with basic navigation. At this point you could distribute your interactive models on in a form where you have the stripped down executable and a script that automatically opens your .blend file, or an icon that has some command line arguments that open the .blend file.

This is of course highly speculative, since none of these features have been put into the 2.8 daily builds. I was just starting to look into distributing interactive 3d to customers using only blender when it was announced that BGE was going to be removed. I have in the past used Unreal for this, but liked the idea of BGE from a workflow standpoint. I think this is a great selling tool and would love to have that built in to blender (again). I will say that Armory engine is fully integrated in blender and looks pretty promising. It is still in an alpha phase, but for simple interactivity, it may be usable for what you need. I plan on trying it out for some of our projects.

@dpdpforlife: Indeed, armory looks like the way to go but it uses its own render engine so materials would have to be done again and of course a new language has to be learned (haxe) which is painful for some people like me who aren't coders. Anyway, I hope 101 offers this kind of logic.
