Have knife modifer work properly with subdiv modifier
currently knife doesnt account for subdiv, which can make cutting into models very annoying (since its always projecting onto the base mesh)

I'd suggest posting images with the proposal so we can better see what is involved and what you intend to change to - as my first reaction is to suggest boolean modifier since you want to work with the modifiers intact. Knife tool is destructive and not a modifier.
hi, sorry. here is the issue i mean. its very hard to cut where needed. youtube.com/watch
sometimes itll be impossible to cut because of this as well, he's an example: youtube.com/watch
having the knife tool consider the subdiv levels would help a ton with restructuring topology, i run into this issue very very frequently and itll make the task pretty miserable at times lol
this is another issue that also pops up, im not sure what causes this. if you click in the middle of the face it'll create the line, but not if you try to connect the vertexes directly youtube.com/watch
For the last video, if you haven't tried it yet, then try selecting both verified and pressing "J" on keyboard. Should join them with edge.
I'm still not sure what you're expecting or what you mean by "consider subdiv levels". Are you suggesting it shoul be snapping to geometry of subdivided mesh ?
thank you. and yes, the knife is snapping only to the unsubdivided base mesh, and ignores subdivisions
