Grease Pencil eraser: option to restore original behaviour (splitting strokes when erasing)

Recently, the Grease Pencil eraser tool was updated.

It no longer splits strokes into multiple segments when passing over them; instead, the "erased" area is simply made invisible, and the affected vertices are removed, leaving the strokes themselves unbroken, as can be seen in Edit mode.

This is a problem, for example, if I want to divide a stroke, then transform only one of the resulting segments.

Doubtless the new behaviour has its value, but I will make better use of its former iteration.

Yeah i know what you mean. i reported it. It's not the eraser. projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/156170 . I agree and don't see a benefit either. because if you want a hole in a fill , you can just make one with the joined fill operator. And if you wanted two separate strokes in a fill all you had to do was break it apart. It's expected behavior since grease pencil 2. it doing that on it's own is just frustrating.

It seems I was too quick in confirming the behavior you described (from memory). Because if I play around with the eraser in the current 5.1, it actually seems to behave like you want?

Nah it's real.. It's not the eraser. i reported it. It's because of the new fill holes in 5.1. Now after deleting the spots you have to go into editmode > Stroke > Separate fill. I'm so used to the old way.... i don't see a benefit because if you want a hole fill , you can just make one. it doing that on it's own is a bit frustrating
