Info on the gizmo/widget

Right now when you transform anything in blender, the user have to search somewhere in the corner of blender to read numbers, this is really unintuitive. Will this kind of info be over the widget itself and this way the users eyes will be always on the transformed subject?

blender need a lot more refinement to the interaction with its tools, look at Cinema and Maya

Nice idea. Not instead, but also, so everyone gets the best workflow :) Really I think the community will be able to improve the widgets a lot with Python, we'll have to wait and see.

* @Josephbburg * not just to wait :) I have 3 weeks of python and you can help even with a little level

Josephbburg

* @zgorg2004 * I meant that we have to wait for documentation, but that may already be done. I'm looking forward to making custom widgets for armatures/rigs.

* @Josephbburg * ah cool in fact I don't why but I totally missed the beginning of your answer. But that's what I meant everybody make Blender evolve and it will be amazing!

Josephbburg

* @zgorg2004 * Yeah! Also, welcome to the world of Python- it's going to speed up your work so much. That is, until you decide to make something that seems really simple but isn't, and you spend 12 hours slamming your head against the table trying to figure it out, only to realize you've set a variable wrong, flipped a sign, or added when you should have multiplied somewhere near the beginning.

* @Josephbburg * I hope...the first part is hard indeed. I felt exactly how you are describing. and at the end, I was telling to myself, do you like to hurt yourself? never again...lol. the next step is harder because, now you did something ok but you realize more again the noob you are. but I'm already on something else I will modify the timeline in blender to add an operator "step" for moving a frame of several, when this field is filled with a value ("step"). now I have the box in the timeline, it won't be difficult to create the operator which will be a multiplicative of the basic ops jump (go to next or previous frame, false/true). perfect for a beginner but very useful I think. but the harder part will be to find the exact place to put this operator, how to call it..but almost, how to share the idea. but thanks for your testimony because indeed this is exactly what is happening then: no matter how long it will be, it will come if I you keep on. I watch sometimes what Clément Foucault is doing and this is totally amazing the amount of work and solutions he find in a week since several months. I feel very close of his approach of things, his logic, but very far in matter of experience and performances, even if I'm the double of his age...but yes following our own path... straight ahead of his own little head

* @Josephbburg * talking about widget on armatures I did this and the last version is working fine on armatures blender.community/c/rightclickselect/Fmdbbc/

to be honest i am not fan of cluttering the viewport with too much information, true the gizmos need more work especially the rotate tool..etc they needs to show all axes so u know if you hit gimbal lock when transforming but adding info inside it is not good ,what about other actions like moving/scaling on 2 or 3 axes? a better solution is to put them in the center bottom with better color coding IMO...and it should be optional

* @zedkorp * this isn't too much information though, this is precisely the information you need for the specific task you are performing. Right now it's like driving a car and having the speedometer on the passenger side.

Cobra

* @testure * this is a bad analogy ,and like i said what about other transforms? some even have 3 and 4 values along side text for orientation types and their gizmos are not even drawn..this proposal seems to lack in depth.

agreed, including the distance to show where you're coming from when you use the move gizmo

Good, because the truth is complicated to make some transformation and have to see in another sector of the screen, what is being done, I love the initiative, which should be applied hopefully to many other transformations.

Agree! Maybe the infos could be display at the origin of the object and follow it if needed (translation). This could be useful to keep those infos close to the eyes all along the transformation. And maybe this could leave the header and gizmos in place instead of just making it disappear!

This is an excellent suggestion
