Viewport performance proposal
That's right....as a proposal I would like to suggest to stop adding any new gizmos and features and put everything into viewport performance. I know this is a free software, but it's the basket I'm putting my professional eggs in at this point. The viewport performance, even at low subdivision level is horrendous. Even if it was double what it is currently it wouldn't be fast enough. Dragging a shape key slider is sluggish. Moving a character's limb is sluggish. Painting a texture is sluggish. Call me crazy, but I feel like nothing else matters if doing everything in the viewport is like a slide show.

I'm perfectly agree. The subdivisions used with shape and bones are almost unusable (playback is very slow). It is not possible for an animation software. I wonder how many Blender users make character animation. Open subdivisions are well implemented in the main software. Also in Blender 2.79 they worked at a significantly higher speed than 2.82.7. Professional users inevitably compare Blender to other software. This should lead to an improvement in Blender if their suggestions are given due consideration. It may be useful to dedicate a space where to highlight Blender's major weaknesses compared to other software. A space for those coming from other software.
sounds like you might need to go re-up your autodesk subscription?
* @testure * I'm a former softimage user with over 20 years of experience. Flaming someone for suggesting blender should have better than poor Opengl performance is only showing arrogance. It's a valid topic of discussion but something the developers never seem to discuss in their hour long videos showing off cloth sculpt brushes.
* @adrencg * If Blender doesn't give the right space for expert users, it won't grow as it could. We must accept the fact that innovative ideas almost always come from commercial software, Blender is inspired by them.
