UI/UX - Developer - Undo History
PROBLEM When a bug or error is found, people don't always know how to explain the bug and, more importantly, the STEPS to reproduce it, so developers have to try to reproduce the bug until they find the explanation and WASTE a ton of time.
PROPOSAL
The idea is the following:
- Modify the location of the Undo History, found in the Edit menu, and add an option in the Editor Type menu, under the Data section. Keep the same name and give it the importance it deserves. Look the image
- Use the Undo History to see what steps the user take before the bug happens.
-
I use chat gpt for make a simple add on to show how i think it should work
-
You can see the proposals window in the bottom right corner, which shows each STEP I take, so the developer can see what steps the user takes.
-Following that line of thought, the developer can ask the user to record a video trying to recreate the error with that window open and see what steps they took
-
It helps the developers to see the exact steps the users take.
-
It helps saving time,
-
And users who don't know how to create the report or describe the step "due to a language barrier" can record a video or take a screenshot with that window open.
-
Aditional help the user to go back in history in a simplier way.

What a clever idea! especially if we keep it as a separate addon (deactivated by default) that you would activate just to make a bug report, so no impact on performances when you don't need it. this is great! When I do a bug report I generally do a video showing everything, but I understand that this is not easy for everyone to do a video screen capture. your addon would help a lot here. but if it is just an addon, IDK if this site is the best way to propose it (?).
Thank you. I also record videos when I report bugs; I think it makes the developers' job easier. But sometimes it's not enough, so my idea could help reduce troubleshooting time and clarify things, since many users only report that the program crashes and don't provide any further explanation. And, honestly, I didn't know where else to propose this because, more than an addon, it's an idea to improve the UX/UI and save developers time troubleshooting.
It would be even better if it became a standard Editor that lets us jump back and forth between steps without needing to go to the Edit menu, in a manner similar to paint apps with History palettes.
