Highlight selected objects by excluding them from X-ray mode

It can be hard to work with multiple objects when they are covering each other. While we have the X-ray mode, having the option to "highlight" one or a selection of objects would significantly improve the experience.

I strongly agree! 3DS Max does this and it is very useful, particularly for checking low poly meshes against high poly meshes: youtu.be/Oq3kn11W1mY

This behavior could already be done using color of object in viewport display. image

But I still upvoted as it isn't possible to display some object with matcap and other shadeless, without going to eevee (witch isn't great to work with as it have too much light, temporal denoising, lag to recompile entire shader compared to matcap, etc..) I've made a proposal for this here : blender.community/c/rightclickselect/pZmQ/
